ATLANTA BRAVES’ BALLPARK

The new home of the Atlanta Braves will be will be a first of its kind — a destination that will simultaneously build and integrate a state-of-the-art Major League Baseball ballpark with a multi-use development and community. Ready to welcome fans and visitors on Opening Day of 2017, the project will be the preeminent sports and entertainment venue in the country.

The project will redefine the traditional model of a “live, work, play” development into a “play, work, stay” destination. SunTrust Park will flow directly into the surrounding development, creating a lively shopping and entertainment district accessible 365 days a year.

SUNTRUST PARK TRANSPORTATION UPDATE

ECONOMIC IMPACT

This project is a true public-private partnership. The economic benefits from the new ballpark will ripple throughout the region. Beginning with the construction process, which will support more than 5,200 jobs and generate $235 million in earnings, the new ballpark will be a dynamic economic engine for Metro Atlanta.

The economic benefits projected to accompany the new stadium include:

  • Annual earnings for the more than 3,000 employees needed to staff the Braves organization will total $35.8 million. More than 1,600 of those jobs will be in Cobb County.
  • Visiting spending, resulting in 873 jobs, will provide $25 million in earnings, of which $8.9 million will be earned in the county.

CONSTRUCTION

Cobb County and the Atlanta Braves selected American Builders 2017 as the construction manager for SunTrust Park. American Builders 2017 will serve as the general contractor and is a joint venture between Brasfield & Gorrie, Mortenson Construction, Barton Malow Company and New South Construction Company. The team has more than 225 years of construction experience and has completed more than 330 sports projects, including football stadiums, baseball parks, soccer stadiums, basketball arenas and more. American Builders’ ballpark experience includes Target Field, Coors Field, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Turner Field, Minute Maid Park, PNC Park and Coolray Field.
