Commercial property owners within the Cumberland area fund the Cumberland CID by paying an additional five mils of property taxes. Cobb County collects the taxes and distributes those funds to the CID to improve the Cumberland area.
By the year 2018, the Cumberland CID will have committed approximately $130 million of the business community’s own money to a multitude of local area improvements.
The CID manages a local work program of road, streetscape, trail and other community projects. However, the CID is heavily invested in state transportation projects including rail and transit along the I-285 and U.S. 41 corridors. These projects are currently in process and once realized, could total an investment of several billion dollars.
