Recently Completed Projects

Since its inception more than two decades ago, the Cumberland CID has successfully completed numerous projects to advance dynamic growth in the area. From connecting the area’s more than 10,000 residential units to the growing number of retail and dining options, to providing access via multi-use trails from bustling office parks to the Chattahoochee National Forest, the Cumberland CID’s projects have improved ease of mobility and general quality of life in Cumberland. The map at the right provides more information on some of the CID’s recently completed projects, and a few additional major completed projects are listed below.

Road Improvement Projects

  • $300 million Cumberland Boulevard loop road
  • $85 million Kennedy Interchange (aka Cumberland Boulevard exit)
  • Paces Ferry Interchange, East-West Connector and I-75/Windy Hill road improvements
  • Design of improvements on Highway 41
  • Akers Mill overpass

Pedestrian Improvements

  • Ten miles of streetscapes and multi-use trails that connect to the regional network
  • $25 million in streetscape and landscape beautification projects in the heart of Cumberland
  • Silver Comet Cumberland Connector Trail, which spurs the main trail north into the Cumberland area
  • Sidewalks and pedestrian bridges throughout the Cumberland area
