Since its creation more than 20 years ago, the Cumberland CID has leveraged $100 million of CID money into potential billions in projects that are completed, under construction or slated for construction.

This interactive timeline provides a visual overview of the Cumberland CID’s work over the past two decades.
Road Improvement Projects
- Completion of the $300 million Cumberland Boulevard loop road.
- Construction of the $85 million Kennedy Interchange (aka Cumberland Boulevard exit), which provides direct access from I-75 to area office parks.
- Reconstruction of the Paces Ferry Interchange and a portion of the East-West Connector; future reconstruction of the I-75/Windy Hill Interchange to include HOV access and transit.
- Design of improvements on Highway 41.
- Construction of the Akers Mill overpass.
Pedestrian Improvements
- Completion of ten miles of streetscapes and multi-use trails that connect to the regional network.
- Construction of more than $25 million in streetscape and landscape beautification projects in the heart of the Cumberland community.
- Completion of the Silver Comet Cumberland Connector Trail, which spurs the main trail north into the Cumberland area.
- Construction of sidewalks and pedestrian bridges throughout the Cumberland area.
Commuter Services
- Since its inception in 1996, Commuter Club has experienced tremendous growth, taking thousands of vehicles off Atlanta’s roads every day through the work of its vanpools, carpools, teleworking and flexible scheduling programs.
- Commuter Club’s vanpool program boasts more than 50 vans and approximately 500 riders.
Other Accomplishments
- Completion of Blueprint Cumberland I and II which has helped master plan growth in the community.
- Completion of a transit study that launched the state’s current initiatives to bring transit and High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to the I-75 and I-285 corridors.
